The Happy Ever After Playlist

The Happy Ever After Playlist by Abby Jimenez was released on 4/14/20; it is the second book from The Friend Zone.  This story takes place two years later, and the main character is Sloan who lost her fiance Brandon in a tragic accident.  The reader meets her as she is stuck in an in-between, with being stuck with the life she had planned with Brandon, and trying to move on in a life without him.  On the day she is going to visit his grave she has a close encounter with a dog name Tucker; the dog literally falls into her lap.  She goes about trying to find the dogs' owner and as weeks go by she decides she is going to keep Tucker if she does not hear back from his owner after one more phone call.

Jason is an up and coming musician, and as he is getting off the plane to open for a gig in Australia, he receives a message about his dog Tucker getting lost.  When he calls the mysterious woman who has his dog, she is feisty at first, but then she gives him a chance to explain his absence.  They come to a decision Sloan will keep Tucker until Jason returns.  From this moment on they begin a relationship.  For weeks they talk for hours on the phone and then once they meet it is love at first sight.  Throughout the book, the reader experiences love between two people who are going in semi different directions but are meeting one another at a point in their lives when they need each other.

I love this story because it brings up issues of loss but not just loss of a loved one, but the loss of losing ones' self.  Sloan not only lost her fiance but she also lost herself when he passed away.  When the reader meets her she is stuck with the memories of Brandon lingering around the home they once shared together and trying to move on and begin a new life for herself.  When she meets Jason he is the first person, other than her BFF Kristen, whom she has let into her life.  There are other moments in the book when the reader sees Jason losing himself to his fame.  He has to decide what he really wants in terms of his career and how Sloan falls into that life.  Jason begins to notice she is putting her passions on hold in order to be with him, but for her, she is trying to make a life with him and also figuring out how she can find her own identity without being overshadowed by Jaxon Waters aka Jason.

I highly recommend this book I'm giving it five stars⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐!  This is a love story that was well worth the wait and also has a playlist you'll want to listen to as you are reading Sloan and Jasons' story.
