Unlikely Match by Laura Bradbury

I received this book a few months ago but just started reading it.  I literally finished it in one night! This book is so good!  I loved the story with Jules and Tom, it is an enemies to lovers and transplant romance.  Jules, who has been suffering from PSC for five years, needs a kidney transplant when the reader is first introduced to her. She and Tom share a workspace (both own two different companies) and they don't get off on the right foot, but Jules recognizes something from the moment they meet she admits Tom begins to bring some life back to her.  Jules goes through so much and mentally has to prepare for a life unknown; we get a sense of who she is at the beginning of the book, and then we see how she and Tom change in the second half of the book and how those changes affect their relationship.   One of the things I loved about this book is we get to read more about someone who is dealing with an incurable disease. The author, Laura Bradbury, take...

So much for keeping up

Well, I don't know where the time has gone.  It's December and I have not kept up with my blog.  I had a plan, I was going to be more productive on this blog.  I feel like my mental health needs to be a priority, but reading and writing have always been a safe place for me.  I want to be a writer, and I want to make a true career out of it, but I have this voice in the back of my mind, "who is going to read what you write?"  There are so many amazing rom com stories and what could I possibly write that has not already been written.  I guess it shouldn't matter, I should just do it because I have a story that needs to get out of my head and I want to see it in black and white.  Who cares if people like it, I should just be proud because I finished my story.  But that ugly voice likes to make their opinion known; another thing is is that I'm scared of failing.  I know failure shouldn't be something to be afraid of, in fact, we should embr...

A Shit Show Year!!!!

So it's been another minute.  I have been reading and writing reviews, but they have mostly been through my Instagram account Shortygirlreads.  I am however going to start writing more in my blog.  Last year was a shit show (COVID can bite me) I got furloughed from my job which then turned into a layoff.  I have been helping my family and trying to figure where I want my life to go, but reading romance has stayed the same.  I'm going to make more of an effort to post my reviews, I have SO MANY BOOKS!!!! My bedroom is literally like a library

The Happy Ever After Playlist

The Happy Ever After Playlist by Abby Jimenez was released on 4/14/20; it is the second book from The Friend Zone.  This story takes place two years later, and the main character is Sloan who lost her fiance Brandon in a tragic accident.  The reader meets her as she is stuck in an in-between, with being stuck with the life she had planned with Brandon, and trying to move on in a life without him.  On the day she is going to visit his grave she has a close encounter with a dog name Tucker; the dog literally falls into her lap.  She goes about trying to find the dogs' owner and as weeks go by she decides she is going to keep Tucker if she does not hear back from his owner after one more phone call. Jason is an up and coming musician, and as he is getting off the plane to open for a gig in Australia, he receives a message about his dog Tucker getting lost.  When he calls the mysterious woman who has his dog, she is feisty at first, but then she gives him a chan...

It's been a minute

So it's been about a minute since I last posted something.  I could blame it on events that happen in my life, but lets be real I've been lazy with a capital L.  My hope for this year is to remember why I wanted to start a blog in the first place.  I didn't have a lot of postings to begin with, so I'm not even sure if anyone has read them, but I'm doing this for me and I would like to finish something that I start.  I have books, A LOT OF BOOKS in fact that I want to read through this year and write reviews about them.  I know you can pretty much write a review anywhere, so really why start a blog. Again, it's for me and if someone would like to read what I have to say, and agree with my thoughts then I've accomplished something.

Its been a while folks!

So it has been awhile since my last post.  A few things in life (nothing serious mind you) has put production on hold for a bit.  To go through everything from my allergies deciding to make their presence known for spring and summer, to coming to a standstill as to what book to begin reading.  I'm reading, just not the books on my list.  I am completely hooked to my Kindle app.  Unlimited books for free! Yes, please!  I promise myself I am going to get to reading the books on my list.  What I have been reading are books from author Aven Ellis on Kindle.  I can't get enough of the feel-good love story A. Ellis writes about.  Her stories range from holey players, the Prince from London, a fashion blogger and vet, to a CEO and his assistant falling in love.  From what I have read I have enjoyed and cannot get enough.  Once I get through all her books I will post about them.  If you are looking for something new to read...

Good Reads Challenge!

Image
Hello there! So I entered the GoodReads challenge to see how many books I can read for this year.  I entered 50 books!  When I was thinking of the number I thought I could do about a 100, but then thinking it through a little more I had to remember of what goes on in my daily life, which to be honest not that much.  I put 50 for a more realistic number for the year.  I went through the books I currently have on my shelf (have not included my ebooks) and so far I am at 27 books.  I have a few books on my E-reader and then I have a list of books I want to buy this year.  Needless to say, I am going to need a bigger shelf if I continue to challenge myself for 2018.  The books I have selected range from the classics to today's popular fiction.  These are books I have bought but never read, so instead of buying more books, I figure I would read what I already have first and then treat myself to something new.  For me, there is n...
